Felting needles are sharp and barbed, which is why we recommend this workshop for ages 5 and above. Our instructor demonstrates safe handling techniques at the start, and younger participants receive close one-on-one guidance throughout the session to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
No experience is needed at all. Needle felting takes one technique to learn — you shape wool by repeatedly poking it with a barbed needle. Our instructor guides you from the very first step, and most participants complete a charming finished piece within the two-hour session.
You learn four core techniques: building and shaping a stable core, surface detailing with fine needles, colour blending by layering wool tones, and adding expressive features such as eyes and textures. All materials are provided and included in the fee: merino wool roving in assorted colours, 36-gauge and 38-gauge felting needles, a foam work pad, and wire armature supplies for more complex shapes. By the end you can create 3D wool sculptures from raw fibre and control needle depth for different textures.
Absolutely. Still life sketching is one of the best starting points for drawing because you work from real objects in front of you rather than from imagination. Our instructor breaks every step down clearly, from initial shape blocking to final shading, so complete beginners leave with a finished piece they are proud of.
You will learn how the direction and quality of light creates highlights, mid-tones, and shadows on three-dimensional objects. Understanding this relationship is the single most important skill in realistic drawing, and once you see it, you will notice it everywhere — it transforms how you observe the world.
The session covers contour drawing, light and shadow mapping, hatching and cross-hatching, and tonal blending with stumps. You work with graphite pencils from hard 2H to soft 6B, vine charcoal sticks, blending stumps and tortillons, a kneaded eraser and A3 cartridge paper, all provided. You leave able to set up and compose a still life scene, render form through light and shadow, and use different pencil grades for varied effects.
No. We use high-quality air-dry clay that hardens naturally at room temperature within 24–48 hours. You take your tray home the same day and it will be fully solid and ready to use within two days. The acrylic paint and sealant we apply in class protect the finished piece for long-term use.
Yes, this is our most accessible workshop for young participants. Air-dry clay is non-toxic, and all tools are safe for small hands. Children aged 3–5 love the tactile experience of shaping and stamping clay, and parents are welcome to join in and create alongside their child.
You learn slab construction and rolling, texture stamping with found objects, edge shaping and forming, and surface decoration and painting. We provide air-dry clay, a rolling pin with thickness guides, texture stamps and carving tools, shape cutters, and acrylic paint and sealant for finishing. By the end you can build a functional clay form using the slab technique, apply decorative textures and patterns, and understand how air-dry clay dries and is finished.
We use Speedball Linozip safety carving tools, whose pull-style blades are drawn towards you rather than pushed away, so a slip is far less likely to send the blade into your hand. That said, carving requires controlled hand movements and blade awareness, which is why we recommend this workshop for ages 7 and above. Our instructor demonstrates safe carving technique at the start and supervises throughout the session.
Bold, high-contrast designs with clear shapes and strong outlines produce the most striking lino prints. Think graphic patterns, simple animal silhouettes, leaf shapes, or lettering. Our instructor helps you simplify your initial sketch into a design that will carve and print cleanly — you do not need to be an experienced artist to get great results.
The four techniques are design transfer to linoleum, relief carving of positive and negative space, ink rolling with a brayer, and hand burnishing for clean prints. Materials provided include linoleum blocks, Speedball safety carving tools, water-based block printing ink, a brayer and baren, and quality printing paper. You leave able to design and transfer a composition, carve safely, roll ink evenly, and pull multiple clean prints from a single block.
An acrylic lamp workshop is a two-hour session where you draw a design onto a clear acrylic panel using acrylic paint markers, then set the finished panel into a wooden LED base. Switched on, light travels through the edge of the acrylic and picks out every line you drew, so the drawing appears to glow against the dark. Working on a transparent surface changes how you plan a picture: outlines carry the image, blocks of opaque colour read as solid shapes, and bare acrylic disappears. No drawing experience is needed — templates are available, and the acrylic panel, markers and wooden LED base are all included in the $128 fee. You take the assembled, working lamp home the same day.
Yes — this is the most accessible workshop we run, with a minimum age of 4. There are no sharp tools, no heat and no kiln: children draw with chunky acrylic paint markers on a smooth, rounded-edge panel, and the ink wipes away before it sets, so there is no pressure to get a line right first time. Younger children usually trace a template outline and then fill and decorate it in their own colours, while older children and adults design from scratch. For children under 5 we recommend a parent or guardian stays for the session — and they are very welcome to make a lamp of their own alongside their child.
Yes — students choose their own subject, and Sanrio-inspired characters such as Cinnamoroll are among the most requested, alongside pets, names, planets and favourite animals. What we teach is the technique rather than any one character: clean outlining, flat opaque colour fill, and how to lay out a design so it reads well once it is edge-lit. During the MOE school holidays it also runs as part of our Holiday Art Camp, where it is offered as a longer 5-hour day-camp version or as one pick from the lesson-package catalogue, alongside the other themed artworks. Choose the workshop if you want a single creative session; choose the camp if you want a full holiday day or a block of sessions.
You practise outlining and line weight with acrylic paint markers, laying flat opaque colour on a transparent surface, two-pass layering for glow-through brightness, and accent detailing that catches edge light. Everything is provided: a clear rounded-edge acrylic panel, acrylic paint markers in assorted colours, a wooden LED lamp base with USB cable, design templates and transfer sheets, and cleaning wipes for corrections. By the end you can plan a drawing that reads clearly on clear acrylic, control marker flow for streak-free colour, and assemble a working LED lamp.
A pop-up portrait is a drawing built in two separated layers. You draw and colour a character on one sheet and the background scene on another, then cut the character out and mount it on small foam pads so it sits a few millimetres proud of the background. The gap casts a real shadow, so the figure genuinely lifts off the page instead of only looking three-dimensional. The technique borrows from paper engineering and from comic-book cover art, and it is a quick way to understand foreground, midground and background — the same depth thinking that makes a flat drawing feel convincing. Everything is included in the $128 fee and the finished piece is mounted and ready to display.
Two reasons, and both are practical rather than arbitrary. The first is drawing: a recognisable character portrait needs reasonably steady control of facial proportion — eye line, nose and mouth spacing, the tilt of the head — and that control usually arrives around this age. The second is cutting: the character is cut out along its own outline, including hair and clothing edges, which takes patient and accurate work with cutting tools under supervision. Younger children who want a character-led session are usually better served by our Light-Up Acrylic Lamp Workshop, which starts at age 4 and reaches a similar finished keepsake without the fine cutting.

Our instructor teaches how to read a reference rather than copy it blindly: where the light sits, how hair groups into shapes, and how a limited palette holds a night scene together. That habit matters beyond the workshop, because working from reference photos is normal studio practice while passing one off unacknowledged is what the O-Level / SEC Art syllabus penalises.
