Mini Masters Art Classes

Mini Masters at Art by Ancourage bridges playful art to fine arts for children ages 6–8 in Singapore (Bishan & Woodlands). Weekly classes of 3-6 students develop drawing, painting, and composition skills through structured projects. Research published in npj Science of Learning (2023) found that students completing two or more semesters of structured art programmes see a 0.55 standard deviation increase in overall GPA and a 16% higher likelihood of pursuing postsecondary education (Egana-delSol et al., 2023). Students learn colour theory fundamentals including primary and secondary mixing, warm and cool palettes, and colour harmonies. Composition basics such as foreground and background, visual balance, and focal points are introduced through guided exercises. Each lesson strengthens observation skills as children draw from real objects and reference images. Students explore graphite pencils, coloured pencils, watercolour, and acrylic—building versatility. Lessons introduce higher-level art concepts and techniques with themed projects that challenge observation and imagination while strengthening motor skills, focus, and creativity.

Students maintain a personal art journal where they sketch ideas, experiment with colour swatches, and reflect on their progress. This practice builds the habit of regular drawing outside class and gives children a visible record of their artistic growth over each term.
