Ancourage AcademyMOE-Registered Tuition Centre in Bishan & Woodlands
Our Story
Based in Bishan and Woodlands, Singapore, Ancourage Academy is MOE-registered and offers personalised tutoring for kindergarten, primary, secondary and JC/IB students in small classes of 3–6. We specialise in Mathematics, English, Science and Chinese using our ESB methodology (Ebbinghaus, Socratic, Bruner) to strengthen understanding and retention.
Ancourage Academy began with a simple observation: no two children struggle, or shine, in the same way. In our early one-to-one coaching, we noticed how anxious learners thrive when lessons are shaped to their strengths and learning gaps: a different explanation, five more minutes of targeted practice, or a quieter space to try independently. Progress followed not because students 'worked harder', but because teaching finally met them where they are. That realisation became our mission and our name: to encourage growth by making learning personal.
Today, as an MOE-registered learning centre, we keep classes intentionally small and design every lesson around the learner. Shaped by our proprietary ESB methodology, we diagnose needs, teach with clarity, and reinforce for mastery.
Ancourage Academy aims to make learning personal — so confidence grows, results follow, and children leave each lesson believing “I can do this!”.

“Education should be a collaborative journey where every student's potential is nurtured.”
Our Vision
Our vision is simple: learning that truly fits the learner. We commit to small, focused classes and purposeful personalisation so each student gains clarity, mastery, and self-belief. In partnership with parents, we turn anxiety into assurance and effort into measurable progress, one lesson at a time.
Transformative Learning
Turning understanding into confident action
Personalised Approach
Teaching that meets students where they are
Our ESB Methodology
Our ESB methodology combines three research-backed techniques to strengthen memory, encourage questioning, and develop thinking skills—giving each student the tools they need to succeed.

Ebbinghaus Memory Theory
Rooted in the pioneering research of 19th century psychologist Hermann Ebbinghaus, this theory underscores the natural decline of memory over time.
Here at Ancourage, we transcend conventional teaching by integrating scientifically calibrated intervals of spaced repetition, thereby fortifying long-term retention and enhancing recall.
Key Benefits:
- Enhanced long-term retention
- Scientifically proven intervals
- Improved recall abilities
Combined Impact
When used together, these techniques create a complete learning environment that supports retention, encourages critical thinking, and supports individual learning paths. They help students become more engaged, independent learners, better equipped to tackle challenges both in and out of the classroom.
Educators of Ancourage
Meet our dedicated team, each bringing their unique expertise and united by a shared mission to deliver instruction with empathy, clarity, and consistency.

Min
Min founded Ancourage with one goal: help students actually understand mathematics, not just memorise formulas. After more than 10 years teaching students from Primary to A-Level, she has seen what works—and what does not. Her classes are small (3-6 students) so she can spot where each student gets stuck and fix it. Parents often say their children finally 'get it' after struggling elsewhere. Min still teaches most of the Maths classes herself because she genuinely enjoys seeing that lightbulb moment.

Charmaine
Charmaine runs our K1-K2 and primary programmes. She is especially good with younger children who are just starting out—helping them build confidence with reading, counting, and speaking up in class. Her background in early childhood education means she knows how to keep lessons fun while still teaching real skills. Do not let her patience fool you, though—she holds a black belt in Taekwondo and brings that same discipline to helping students focus.

Angie
Angie founded Art by Ancourage after training at LASALLE and receiving her Bachelor's Degree from Goldsmiths (University of the Arts London). She teaches everything from Crafty Corner for young kids to DSA portfolio preparation for secondary students applying to art schools. Speaking four languages (English, Chinese, Malay, Korean) helps her connect with students from different backgrounds. Her art programmes focus on technique and creativity—not just keeping kids busy, but actually developing their artistic skills.
