Singapore Primary-to-Secondary School Affiliation
Affiliated primary pupils get priority for their linked secondary school's places — a measurable but modest advantage: MOE puts the average cut-off difference at about 7 points in Posting Group 3, 2 in PG2 and 1 in PG1, with 20% of places reserved for non-affiliated pupils. Ancourage Academy lists every verified affiliation below.

How affiliation priority works
- It is a priority, not a separate exam
- Affiliation still applies after Full Subject-Based Banding removed Express/Normal streaming (2024). Affiliated pupils are considered ahead of non-affiliated pupils for the school’s vacancies within the eligible Posting Group. (source)
- The cut-off advantage is measurable but modest
- MOE: “For Posting Group 3, the average difference [in cut-off between affiliates and non-affiliates] is about 7 points. For Posting Groups 2 and 1, the average difference is smaller, at 2 and 1 point respectively.” (source)
- 20% of places are reserved for non-affiliated pupils
- MOE: “MOE required affiliated secondary schools to reserve 20% of places for non-affiliated students … from the 2019 Secondary 1 Posting Exercise.” So at most 80% of places go to affiliated pupils. (source)
- It applies to the O-Level / SEC intake (Integrated Programme schools differ)
- For a school that runs a 4-year (O-Level / SEC) track, the affiliation benefit is for that intake — SCGS, for example, states its “Affiliation benefit for admission … is valid for the SEC Programme only.” A few affiliated schools (such as Nanyang Girls’ High) run only the Integrated Programme; there, affiliated pupils enter through the school’s own IP admission, so check the specific school. Commonly searched, not yet confirmed
These pairs are often assumed but we could not confirm them from an official source, so we do not list them as affiliated or not affiliated. Check the secondary school's “Affiliated schools” field on MOE SchoolFinder.
- Ai Tong School → Catholic High School (Secondary) — the most-searched pair, but not confirmed in the MOE or school sources we checked.
- Tao Nan School → a feeder secondary — a SAP / Hokkien-heritage primary sometimes assumed to have an affiliated secondary; no affiliation was confirmable from the MOE or school sources we checked.
- Marsiling Primary → Marsiling Secondary — neighbouring same-name schools; no affiliation field was found. (Fuchun Secondary merged into Woodlands Ring Secondary in 2025, so the once-assumed Fuchun Primary → Fuchun Secondary pair no longer exists.)
- Chung Cheng High (Main / Yishun) feeder primaries (often cited as Maha Bodhi, Kong Hwa, Poi Ching) — the secondary-to-secondary and Nanyang JC links are documented, but the primary feeders were not confirmable.

Common questions
- Does affiliation give my child a lower PSLE cut-off?
- It gives priority, not a separate exam: affiliated pupils are considered ahead of non-affiliated pupils for the school’s places within the same Posting Group. The advantage is measurable but modest — MOE puts the average cut-off difference at about 7 points in Posting Group 3, 2 points in PG2 and 1 point in PG1, and 20% of places are reserved for non-affiliated pupils.
- Does affiliation still apply after Full Subject-Based Banding?
- Yes. Full Subject-Based Banding removed Express/Normal streaming from 2024, but affiliation priority continues — it now operates inside the eligible Posting Group (PG1, PG2 or PG3) rather than the old streams. Posting is by PSLE Score, and affiliated pupils are ranked ahead of non-affiliated pupils competing for the same school.
- Does affiliation apply to the Integrated Programme (IP)?
- Usually not. For a school that runs a 4-year (O-Level / SEC) track, the affiliation benefit is for that intake — Singapore Chinese Girls’ School, for example, states its benefit is “valid for the SEC Programme only,” and the school’s IP admits through its own criteria, often DSA. The exception is a school that runs only the Integrated Programme, such as Nanyang Girls’ High, where affiliated pupils enter via the school’s IP admission. Check the specific school.
- Is Ai Tong School affiliated to Catholic High School?
- This is the most commonly searched affiliation pair, but we could not confirm it from MOE or the schools’ official pages, so we do not list it as a fact either way. The authoritative source is the “Affiliated schools” field for the school on MOE SchoolFinder — check there for any specific primary-to-secondary affiliation.
- How do I check if a primary school is affiliated to a secondary school?
- Search the secondary school on MOE SchoolFinder and read its “Affiliated schools” field, which lists the affiliated primary school(s). You can also check the secondary school’s own admissions page. Affiliations are a defined set that rarely changes, but always confirm against the official source for the current year.
