Sec 1 G3 Maths Tuition

Sec 1 introduces algebra—a fundamental shift from concrete arithmetic to abstract variables. Students must learn to manipulate expressions with letters, work with negative numbers, and show working in new ways. This conceptual leap requires guidance and practice. Algebra and integers typically challenge students most. Understanding negative numbers, algebraic manipulation, and translating word problems into equations require a different mindset from primary school problem sums.

Our Sec 1 Mathematics classes run weekly for 2 hours at both our Bishan and Woodlands centres. Each class has 3-6 students, giving your child focused attention as they build secondary-level foundations. See our pricing page for fees, or try a trial class — free (usually $18).

With only 3-6 students per class, our tutors identify each student's specific challenges quickly. In Sec 1, we focus on bridging the primary-to-secondary transition and building strong maths study habits. Our ESB methodology uses Ebbinghaus spaced review for long-term retention, Socratic questioning for deeper understanding, and Bruner's scaffolding for systematic skill building — targeting root causes rather than surface symptoms. Our Bishan centre serves families from Bishan, Toa Payoh, Ang Mo Kio, Marymount, and Thomson — all within a few MRT stops on the North-South or Circle Line. Sec 1 students from Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Secondary, Catholic High Secondary, Raffles Institution attend our Mathematics classes. For families in the North, our Woodlands centre at Vista Point serves Woodlands, Admiralty, Marsiling, and Sembawang.

Our small-group classes are intentionally kept between 3 and 6 students so every learner receives close guidance, timely feedback, and ample practice.

Each lesson is 2 hours, providing ample time for thorough coverage of topics and interactive learning.

Yes. All lesson materials and worksheets are provided and included in the fees. Students should bring regular stationery and, where applicable, school textbooks/workbooks for reference.

Yes. Our materials and pacing align with the MOE syllabus. External syllabuses (e.g. IGCSE, IB) are available upon request.

This course covers G3 (mapped from Express standard) Mathematics under Singapore's Full Subject-Based Banding (Full SBB). We also support students at other G-levels. Contact us to discuss your child's current G-level and the best class arrangement.
