Frequently Asked Questions
DP 2 focuses on exam technique: timed practice for Paper 1 (one writing task chosen from three prompts) and Paper 2 (listening comprehension and reading comprehension), plus polishing the Individual Oral. Regular past paper practice, feedback on writing, and building confidence under time pressure are essential. Chinese B papers are set in Chinese and students respond in Mandarin throughout. The Individual Oral is recorded during DP 2, typically between January and March. SL students should be fluent at describing and discussing an unseen visual stimulus by then; HL students should know their two literary works well enough to speak to any extract. The remaining months go to practice and refinement, and recordings are conducted entirely in Mandarin.
DP 2 requires careful time management as all subjects have final assessments. Chinese IO preparation can begin early, freeing time for other IAs. We help students create revision schedules that balance all subjects while maintaining depth in Chinese.
